How do powders move inside a manufacturing plant?
The packaging usually follows the handling method, the dust behaviour and the batch size.
Powders move in sacks, bulk bags, drums, bins and closed conveying systems. Which one suits depends on batch size at the point of use, dust and static behaviour, and how much manual handling is acceptable.
Common formats
- Sacks and valve bags, where batches are small and dosing is manual
- FIBCs, where a pallet load is consumed in one or a few charges
