Glossary

Gaylord

A common name for a large corrugated bulk box sized to a pallet.

Gaylord is everyday shop-floor language rather than a technical standard. It usually means a heavy corrugated box that covers a full pallet footprint, sometimes with several walls of board, used for parts, regrind, granules and other dry material. Because the name is informal, the specification matters more than the word: wall construction, stacking strength, bottom style and whether it is meant for one trip or several.
